About our courses …

Your guide to wellbeing
and contentment …

Welcome. The courses we offer are suitable for everyone. Each has a different focus. They represent the highest form of meditations from India and Tibet and are a complete system of mind training. First we focus on ourselves, then learn to work with the suffering of others through loving kindness and compassion. It can be done in two ways, less elaborate and more elaborate. Tuesday courses provide a less elaborate, non ritual, simple approach. Thursday courses offer a more elaborate ritual based practice approach. If applied properly they can lead to mental wellbeing, contentment and even Liberation. Each session contains the elements of advanced practice and will be of great benefit

The sessions are in 4 parts, Yoga, breath exercises, guided meditations and theory. The Tibetan yoga practices are derived from practice and medical texts. There are 2 sets. One set is for those with mobility issues which can be practiced sitting down and the second can be practiced standing and lying down for the stronger among us. The session continues with ancient breathing practices. Again there are levels of practice, from gentle, to a little more forceful. These improve physical health and wellbeing and help clear the mind in preparation for meditation practice.

There are three main methods of practice. The first is a sitting practice that involves working with breath, body, senses & images while sitting and lying. These are the Tuesday – Meditation for All sessions. They are available to anyone and are ritual free.

These sessions offer a unique opportunity to learn mindfulness, awareness, insight, and gain experience in looking directly at the mind. When understood, they can be practiced any time, any where. This type of practice is called Sutra Mahamudra in the Tibetan Buddhist Tradition. These practices are particularly suited for modern day living. They are simple, direct and can be practiced anywhere anytime.

The second is Compassion Practice. It is a complete training in itself, is very practical and suited to modern living. It is based on self kindness & compassion which is gradually extended to others. it’s where loving kindness meets suffering. A mind training in 7 points called Lojong, it consists of compassion training and mind transformation using 59 aphorisms that are based on the 6 transcendent practices of generosity, discipline, patience, exertion, meditation, and wisdom. They help transform adversity into the path of awakening and provide easy to follow guidelines for use in everyday life that turn your life as it is into the spiritual path .

The Third is a sitting practice that involves a series of mantra and visualisation practices. These are the Thursday sessions. They use body, speech and mind as the practice, the body through posture, the speech through reciting texts and mantra and using imagination. Again simple yoga and breathing techniques are included as preparation. The texts used, describe what to imagine. The mantra and breathing practices calm the mind and help transform how we see ourselves and our world based on our personal psychology. The practices can be adapted to fit into your busy schedule. The texts are chanted in English and Tibetan phonetics.

This Type of practice is called Mantra Mahamudra and the sessions take place on Thursday evenings.

These Tuesday and Thursday practices are called result practices. Tuesdays Sutra Mahamudra introduce you to natural mind, the compassion to the true nature of the mind and Thursdays, to the premise that you are already enlightened but have not realised it.
